LAGOS — A renewed cult clash has claimed the life of one person and injured three others in Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Problem started three days ago when two rival groups, Aiye and Eiye, clashed in the community during which dangerous weapons were freely used. In the process,  a member of Aiye was feared dead.

In revenge, the other group returned last Tuesday around 10a.m. but the timely arrival of policemen as well as a community vigilante group popularly called On-yabo prevented further clash.
However, the cultists returned yesterday and injured three people but the intervention of law enforcement agents again saved the situation from degenerating.
A community leader who pleaded anonymity said the cultists escaped through Bayeku, Oreta and Ofin due to the swampy nature of the area.
He also said the law enforcement agents have been combing the area in search of the hoodlums.

In a chat with Vanguard, commander of the local vigilante, Chief Kamorudeen Bombata, confirmed the development, saying one casualty was recorded while others were injured, noting that no arrest has been made.
He said: “We are on top of the situation because we are still patrolling the area and have been to Ofin and Oreta but yet to make any arrest.”
At press time, commercial and vehicular activities have been disrupted in the community as residents fear the cultists might return.
