<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">Three more suspects have been arrested over the recent kidnapping of three schoolgirls in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, western Nigeria.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">The three suspects, Wekemei Godfrey, 28, Priye Pius Gift, 26, and Omoni Rufus Fred, 32, were arrested following an intensive search for the gang members.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">According to the police, the suspects were arrested between 7th and 10th March, 2016 in their various hideouts.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">Their arrest followed the operation of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) deployed to Lagos by Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase and led by Abba Kyari.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">The latest arrest of the suspects, has increased to 6 the total number of suspects out of the 12 that were allegedly involved in the kidnapping.</span></div>

<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">Three other suspects earlier arrested include their leader who are now helping the police to make more arrest.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">The Lagos State Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the latest arrest, said the suspects confessed to being members of the gang that carried out the dastardly act.</span></div>

<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">She said they have been handed over to operatives in Lagos for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.</span></div>

Three suspects involved in the abduction of three girls from a secondary school in Ikorodu, Lagos, were arrested during rescue operation, the Lagos State Police Command has said.</div>

Afeez Oseni, a chieftain of the Vigilance group in Ikorodu Central, according to eyewitness accounts, was shot to death yesterday afternoon at the Aga area of the town by gunmen suspected to be cult members. The youthful Onyabo boss was said to have been with friends at the time of his murder.</div>

Details have emerged on the robbery which occurred in the early hours of today at Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, Lagos state. A lady reportedly led the gang to the banks and stayed outside while the operation lasted. The leader of the gang was said to have sat down in front of the bank bragging, and no police officer was able to confront her. She reportedly tied charm around her neck.</div>

Sources at the Zenith bank disclosed that there were about 15 armed robbers whose ages should not be more than 20-years. The bank’s safe as reported was broken with the use of dynamite and the staffs were made to lie on the floor while the robbery continued. The young robbers were reported to have burnt three of their vehicles in front of Origin Gardens, a recreational place not far from the scene of the incident, and escaped via the ferry service operated beside the Garden.</div>

A witness at the scene of the robbery said:“I could not dare stare them in the face. I just lay on the floor as they instructed and waited there until they left. I have never seen anything like that before.” One of the owners of the garden (name withheld), whose car was burnt alongside the three jeeps, described the incident as a really shocking one. “Nobody is ready to talk to you right now because we are all in shock. My car was burnt and I could not face the people. Don’t ask me how they escaped, why didn’t you come here when the robbery was going on?”  she blasted at the First bank robbery scene, the suspects used a device to open the computerised door to gain entrance to the banking hall. Monies were carted away but no staff of the bank was killed. Only one person was reportedly shot in the leg and has been taken to Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the armored tank which the policemen used to stage a pursuit of the robbers was pelted with bullets that almost penetrated the bullet-proof vehicle. The state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Kayode Aderanti, who was at the escape route, told reporters that the police would investigate the matter to know how the robbers carried out their operation successfully. When he asked why none of his men could confront the robbers during the two-hour period that the incident lasted despite the fact that a police station was opposite the bank, he said: “we shall look into the matter and investigate thoroughly to know what happened.” As at the time of filing this report, no fewer than 20 police vans were patrolling the area to check if the robbers were going to return and ensure safety of lives and properties.</div>

“I was arrested in Ikorodu where I live. My friend Akpan called me and I didn’t know that it was because police was looking for me.”</div>

Omoboye, a boat operator, in his testimony said he usually ferry the gang to their operations.</div>

Omoboye disclosed that he had participated in all the robberies, adding that he received N400,000 for the Lekki robbery, N400,000 for Ijede and N2million for the Ogolonto attack, totalling N2.8m.</div>

<span style="font-weight: normal;">Four members of the robbery gang, which unleashed terror on two commercial banks in the Ipakodo, Ikorodu area of Lagos two weeks ago, have been arrested by the police.<br />Our correspondent learnt that the suspected robbers were arrested from Okitipupa, Ondo State, and Ikorodu, Lagos State, while three Sport Utility Vehicles allegedly bought from the proceeds of the robbery were recovered.<br />The suspects’ names were given as Monday Akpan, Bright Agbojule, the third identified simply as Jafaru, and one Baba Ibeji.<br />On Wednesday, June 24, the gang, which was reportedly led by a woman, had stormed the Ebute-Ipakodo branches of the First Bank and Zenith Bank at about 8.30am, and carted away millions of naira.<br />The robbers, who overwhelmed policemen from the Ipakodo division, were said to have carted away about N60m from the Zenith Bank’s strong room, while N20m were stolen from the bank’s ATM room.<br />The suspects, who dared policemen to confront them, later escaped in two speedboats at the Ipakodo jetty, Ikorodu.<br />Four persons, including a bank customer, who were hit by bullets during the one-hour operation, were taken to the General Hospital, Ikorodu.<br /><i>PUNCH Metro</i> gathered that four members of the gang were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, in an operation involving a former SARS commander, SP Abba Kyari, and an officer, DSP James Okeke.<br /><i>PUNCH Metro</i> gathered that one of the suspected robbers, a week after the operation, had headed for the Okitipupa area, Ondo State, with a Lexus bought with the proceeds of the robbery.<br />A police source told <i>PUNCH Metro</i> that the suspect was arrested by soldiers, who were on a stop-and-search exercise in Ondo State.<br />It was learnt that the suspect was also found with bundles of new N1,000 notes with bank seals.<br />The police source said the arrest was the break that the police needed, adding that the suspect later led policemen to arrest other members of the gang.<br />He said, “The soldiers were on a stop-and-search and they found the suspect, identified only as Baba Ibeji, while on his way to his home town in Okitipupa, Ondo State.<br />“During a search, they found bundles of new N1,000 notes with bank seals in his bag.<br />“The soldiers, who were also aware of the bank robbery in Lagos, smelt a rat and contacted the Lagos State Police Command on the development.<br />“The former CP, Kayode Aderanti, immediately contacted experienced hands in SARS for the interview of the suspect. The suspect gave the contacts and names of other suspects. The operatives subsequently mobilised more officers to Ikorodu and made some arrests.<br />“Three suspects were picked up by the police in Ikorodu. Two of them had bought Sport Utility Vehicles with the proceeds. All of them had bought plots of land with their loots. Three vehicles have been recovered for now.”<br />Our correspondent learnt that the suspects would be paraded on Monday (today) at the state command headquarters, Ikeja.<br />It was learnt that efforts were still being intensified to get other members of the gang, which reportedly numbered about 15.<br />The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrests in a text message.<br />He said, “The Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, will parade the suspects on Monday, as he hands over to the new CP, Fatai Owoseni, at the command headquarters.”</span></h2>

When some workers of the place who had noticed young man, who simply identified himself as Kola, has been arrested by the police, in collaboration with local vigilante group, called "Onyabo", in Ikorodu on Saturday, October 6, 2012 for engaging in the digging out of corpses buried in Shagamu road cemetery and cutting off some parts of the dead that he considered useful for his evil purpose.</div>
<div>
The suspect was arrested at the cemetery at the time he was operating on one of his victims at a grave, very close to the end of the cemetery previously that corpses buried in the place are suffering serious injuries from unknown person(s), who had always come to take or cut the heads of the dead or other human parts, decided to comb the whole cemetery around 5:00 am on that fateful day and Kola was eventually nabbed.</div>
<div>
According to the suspect, the corpse's parts are sold in Mile 12. While human head costs N 20,000 (twenty thousand Naira), the hand costs N 5,000 (five thousand naira).</div>
<div>
The suspect, who said he had engaged in this devilish act for about twenty (20) times, was later taken to Shagamu Road Police Station, Ikorodu, by police and Onyabo's leader, Chief Kamoru Bombata, for more investigation into the matter.</div>
<div>
A source, who works in the cemetery, told Ikorodu News that this ugly situation had continued to happen in the cemetery for a long time. He said this prompted cemetery workers to make efforts in getting the suspect. </div>
<div>
He confirmed that several times, they had met some graves in the cemetery in a very rough and scattered condition. The situation that confirmed that illegal operation had been carried out on the dead.</div>
<div>
Meanwhile, residents are calling on Anipole to improve on the security in the cemetery, in order to avoid a recurrence. Residents also appealed to the local government to uplift the face of the cemetery by clearing the bush inside the cemetery and be supplying electricity, so that the place would not be dark again at night.</div>
<div>
At the time of filing this report, we could not find out the real occupation of this young man estimated to be in his mid 20.</div>
<div>
The policemen handling the investigation prevented our reporter from getting more facts from the suspect; it was not certain what the end uses of these human parts are to their buyers at Mile 12.</div>

It was, however, amazing to know from Kola that he alone is involved in this evil act as he denied having accomplices.</div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Alhaji Sherif Adisa Anipole, in his address, delivered on behalf of other chairmen, said it is a great pleasure that Ikorodu Division is coming back to its normal peaceful community it is known for. He was quick to add that it does not imply that it is crime free, but the criminal activities has drastically reduced due to the different efforts of security bodies which include Nigerian Police in Ikorodu, especially the establishment of Area N in jede, local vigilante group popularly known as 'Onyabo' and Neighbourhood Watch.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">The other two vehicles are said to have been withheld by the Imota LCDA chairman, Hon. Adekunle Adebogun, who was said to have refused all entreaties to release the two vehicles to be shared between Imota police station (Imota LCDA) and Neighbourhood Watch (Ikorodu Division in general).</span><img class="alignright" height="671" src="http://www.oriwusun.com/2013/january/images/patrol7.jpg" style="border: 0px; float: right; margin: 4px 0px 5px 10px; padding: 0px;" width="350" /><span style="background-color: white;">On behalf of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos and Area N Commander, SP Patrick Onwu thanked the six chairmen and pledged that crime will be stamped out with the help of the vehicles as there will be quick response from every angle in Ikorodu to any distress call.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />Onwu, who also represented the Area N Commander, ACP A.O. Markus at the event accepted the vehicles on his behalf and reinstated his men's readiness to fight crime to a standstill as there will be no excuse again for any lapse. But like Oliver Twist, Onwu requested of the council chairmen to help in the fueling of the vehicles as police do not get any special grant for vehicles fueling.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />Stepping out of the Ikorodu local government Secretariat hall, Alhaji Sherif Anipole led other four chairmen to unveil the vehicles before each of the chairmen handed the vehicles to each formation in their jurisdiction.</span></div>

Ibikunle Adebogun in releasing two patrol vehicles as agreed by the six chairmen is anything to go by, then all may not be well with the six councils in Ikorodu division.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />The six chairmen in Ikorodu division after taking delivery of the two patrol vehicles, agreed on an arrangement to redistribute the vehicles across the division. But while other five chairmen submitted theirs Ikorodu Central Council, the Imota chairman, Hon. Ibikunle Adebogun refused honouring the arrangement.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />Alhaji Sherif Anipole, in his speech during the formal presentation of the vehicles to police and other security formations across the division, said that he did not know why Hon. Adebogun refused bringing the vehicles as agreed by the chairmen.</span></div>

He expressed dismay over Adebogun's refusal to honour the collective arrangement of the chairmen.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />"The chairmen in the division agreed to a certain arrangement on how the vehicles will be distributed across the division, but Imota did not honour the arrangement. I have personally called his phone this severally this morning but he did not pick my calls. I challenge anybody to fault our agreed redistribution. The two vehicles are meant for Imota police station and Neigbourhood Watch, which serves the entire Division", said Anipole.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" />When further asked the Conference fifty-seven will do if Imota refused to release the vehicles, Anipole said the issue will be reported to the party leaders.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 1.5em;">In a chat with a party leader, it was revealed that the Imota chairman's failure to honour the agreed arrangement should not be isolated from general political instability in Ikorodu as other councils especially Imota do no longer see themselves as being part or under Ikorodu, which also reflects in the denial of Ayangburen's position by the Ranodu of Imota.</span></div>
