Unless you are very close to Governor Fashola's administration, you would not know the depth of love he has for Ikorodu division. Perhaps, because this newspaper is very close to the seat of government, we can say authoritatively that no governor in the state, in the past, had done so much for Ikorodu division than Fashola's administration.
It is no exaggeration that when we look at the significant projects he had executed here, we can conclude that he had done his best. Where do we start?
Is it the multi-million naira Ebute-Ipakodo road project? There are also the ferry-jetty project; the massive housing projects going on along Baiyeku road; the newly-constructed magistrate court; the rice-mill and on-going ring road projects in Imota and the various roads under construction in different parts of the division.
Or is it the road projects in Aga-Gbasemo in Ikorodu?
Like the governor himself said when the opposition accused him of not performing, he said that he does not need to use the media to advertise his performance, but the people themselves are the ones seeing the various projects.
The truth is that Ikorodu may not be favoured in terms of political appointments under Fashola, but what we are not able to get in terms of political appointments, we have been able to get in terms of infrastructural developments.
The community is particularly bitter that in the appointment of sixteen (16) permanent secretaries, not a single Ikorodu son or daughter was appointed while there were about five permanent secretaries from Epe and the rest from Lagos Island.
However, we can only hope that the governor would make adjustments in the next appointment of permanent secretaries. But in terms of infrastructure, Governor Fashola ranks top among other past governors of the state.
